About James Leissler

Hi, We have a family of four, plus our faithful travel companion Chihuahua. We love traveling all over the world but our favorites are France and islands in the middle of no where:) I’ve always been enamored with hippie buses, I have owned five of them. We have tried Volkswagen Westfalia’s and Mercedes Sprinters. The sprinter is an awesome vehicle and very comfortable but the Volkswagen Westfalia is a lot easier to park and drive and better in town. Happy Travels, Jim

Jim was a fantastic host - he came through for us in a pinch when a different rental fell through at the last minute. Casper was such a fun vehicle to take on a bucket list road trip to the Canadian Rockies and had us dreaming about owning our own.

Casper was absolutely terrific and the host, James, is just the best. He was very solicitous of our every need and provided small touches at that were unexpectedly helpful. Our trip covered @ 2,000 miles of mostly highway and some poorly maintained country roads and Casper handled them all with no issues. In fact, at 80mph (Idaho speed limit) Casper handled better than my three previous Suburbans. In all, this was a wonderful experience all around (except the fishing sucked). High praises for Casper and his owner.

James and the silver surfer made for an incredible road trip down the coast. The van has everything you need and nothing you don’t. James is communicative, flexible and a fantastic host. Already planning our next trip!

The silver surfer was an excellent vehicle for our two week trip. We went up through WA and in to Canada. The kids loved the “top bunk” and there was plenty of room for all of our gear. Communication with Jim was excellent and easy. Flexible pick up and drop off made the trip a breeze. Thanks!!

Excellent rental. We found the van to be extremely versatile under unexpected conditions. Comfortable in all aspects. Will definitely try and rent again down the road.

Jim is a great guy... easy to work with, helpful, knowledgeable about the area, and quick to respond to my texts while on the road. The van/camper - known as the Silver Surfer - is a fine machine. I doubt if the rental car companies will be seeing much of me on future vacations now that I know how to get something like this van to cruise around in. This was a great experience. THANKS!!!!!

What a blast driving the Silver Surfer! It was a family adventure that started in Portland and took us north to vacation with friends on the coast of Washington. We knew we didn't need a full sized RV, since we had access to a kitchen, bathroom etc. Our kids are 12 yrs old and 16yrs old, so the pop-top was a bit small for the both of them for more than two nights. Fortunately, the 16yr old got to sleep in a loft space in the house and everyone continued to be fun and cheery. Jim did a fantastic job of explaining all we needed to know about the Silver Surfer and was super quick to answer any questions that we had while we were on the road. On a housekeeping note, the van was extremely clean, bedding was comfortable/warm and pillows were great. Since the van was older, the music options were radio/cassette/CD. We ended up purchasing a cassette player adapter($15) and my husband just happened to have brought the iPhone 3.5mm adapter thingy, so we could play music from our iPhones. If we find ourselves out in the PNW and needing a camper van, we will definitely rent from Jim again.
