For all those looking for a relaxed, easy and trustworthy experience renting, for the first time or the 50th, I highly recommend Aaron, Marly and their family RV, Lucky. The RV: The pictures truly dont do Lucky justice as it was even more awesome than we expected and quickly put to rest any doubts we may have had. Its very well maintained and it was easy to understand, after talking to Aaron/Marly, that they truly consider their RV to be just like one of the family members. There were only three of us using the RV, but with the Queen bed, jackknife couch/bed, the bunk above the cab and the dinette breakdown you can easily sleep 6 or 7 people comfortably. Our 4 yr old son loved being able to choose a different bed each night, but kept going back to the bunk above the cab. The bathroom is pretty roomy and laid out in a way that multiple people can use it at the same time. They have stocked it with all you will need including RV safe toilet paper and hand soap. The washer/dryer in the bathroom is a bonus and not very common in RVs. We used it a few times and it worked great for what we needed cleaned(swimsuits, towels, etc). One of the other nice things about the bathroom is there are two separate entrances, one from the main cab and one from the bedroom. Doesnt seem like that would matter much, but it makes getting around easier and provides some privacy when everyone is asleep.
The Bedroom is cozy and the bed is really comfortable. Again, theres more storage cabinets over the bed and tons of room for clothes in the walk-in closet. The walk-in has two poles for hanging clothes and a set of drawers, more than enough room for my family of threes clothes for our trip. There is a smaller TV in the bedroom that has a DVD player built-in and there are outlets on either side of the bed for your phone, pad, etc.
The kitchen was great and fully stocked with all the things you need (coffee maker, pots/pans, cutlery, etc) and a few you didnt know you needed (colander, toaster, etc). The real prize of the kitchen is the fridge! Its basically a full-size refrigerator with 2 separate freezer pull-out drawers. It held everything we needed for a 9 day trip and then some. There is plenty of storage in the kitchen for dry goods and even more storage above the sofa. In fact, another hidden surprise of the RV, in general, is the storage. Everywhere you look there are cabinets and drawers for storing stuff and they all stay shut while your out on the road. There was even a drawer with toys that my 4 year old found and it was like Christmas all over again, haha!
The main room has a big table and u-shaped couch with a big TV overhead (that works while you are driving!). The TV has a DVD player (they provide a sleeve of DVDs, mostly kid movies) and it has multiple HDMI ports that supported out Amazon Fire Stick. This couch area is perfect for meals while on the road and basic lounging around watching TV between campsites.
The outside of the RV has plenty of storage compartments (that are deceptively big) for all your campsite stuff and there is a TV w/DVD player outside that is great for outdoor movie night. Along with lots of room in the different storage compartments you can find everything from sports equipment to tool sets to camp gear.
For those that are concerned about how the RV drives you can relax because its very easy to drive and you get more comfortable and confident with every mile you put behind you. The best comparison is like driving a big truck or a mid/large size U-Haul. The side cameras that activate when you turn on your turn signal make it impossible to miss something in a blindspot and the back-up camera makes pulling into campsites a breeze. The control panels to the rest of the vehicle (automatic leveler, generator, slide outs, interior/exterior lights, awning, etc.) are all in one spot and are easy to understand. For the big tasks like dumping the tanks, leveling, using the generator Aaron and Marly have included a laminated folder book of instructions to advise you when you arent quite sure what to do. By Day 2 you will be a pro and all of the big stuff wont be so daunting anymore. The Owners: Aaron and Marly were really great to rent from and I would rate them 10 out of 10 on all the important attributes of someone youre renting from. Their communication was stellar throughout our entire experience (from messaging before booking, thru the booking, the pick-up/inspection, thru our trip and eventually the drop-off/inspection). They always replied in a quick manner and they were always receptive to questions/concerns. Having rented RVs a few times and on a few different sites I found them to be the model for how you want your RV owners to interact with you. The inspection process at pick-up was thorough and informative. The RV was clean and ready to go at inspection. They took their time on what needed to be emphasized and were constantly checking in with me to make sure I was getting it all. Their confidence and excitement for you and your ability to competently use their RV really comes through in how they communicate with you. They will have you confident and prepared to man the RV by the time the pick-up and inspection is completed. We only had one minor hiccup on our trip and I was able to text them, receive a return message and have it fixed all within 10 minutes. From experience this doesnt happen with all owners and it can really leave you in the lurch especially when you are hundreds of miles away. Between their communication, the manual they provide and the internet there really is no problem you cant get your way through. When it came time to end our trip and return the RV to them they were very flexible on the timing (they were flexible on the pick-up time also) and very clear on what needed to be done for the cleaning. They even had a suggestion for a gas station a handful of miles from their house where I could fill up and also dump the tanks. The drop-off inspection was quick, easy and transparent.Overall: The experience couldnt have gone any better and we cant wait to rent from the Christensens again! 10/10 for the Lucky the RV and 10/10 for Aaron and Marly as owners. I highly recommend this RV and family to any prospective renter on Outdoorsy!
