Sleep in the back, throw your boards on the roof racks, and save $$$ on gas with this hybrid hatchback!I adore this ride... and lounging in the back with the (add-on) super fly mesh + awning system will make you feel like a car camp genius! If this is your first Outdoorsy booking, here's $50 off on me:
https://www.outdoorsy.com/invite/129507208328/renterAbout ME:
I live in a tiny house on a farm, and have several vehicles that I rent to friends-of-friends, extended family, and sometimes visitors.
If you're visiting Kaua'i and want an affordable, low-impact, ecologically and culturally respectful way of taking in the lush beauty of the island, hit me up!I've got the following available for either short or long-term:
-2 hybrid with a sweet camp setup
-1 kick-ass lifted 4X4 with a camper shell (Goldie is my baby, and you'll have to promise to treat her right!)All of the vehicles come "naked" for a low price (bare bones sleep in the back setup for 1 person - see "what's included"), and you can load up with extras to customize your island love affair! This Ride:
Surprisingly roomy, the Prius back seats fold down and make a spacious space for 1 tall person, or a cozy bed for 2 smaller folks. The camp mattress stretches out to 74" diagonally, or 69" straight. All of your add-on camp/sleep gear will be packed in a waterproof bin, which gives you flexibility:
- Unpack the bedding when it's time for bed
- Stash your other gear in the bins, lock the bin and chain it to the vehicle while you sleep.
What's included- One 3” inflatable mattress with pillow, a fleece sleeping bag, a sleeping bag liner, and an extra bed-pillow
- Solar/USB rechargeable lantern / mosquito zapperLots more extras available (select in ADD ONs)!
- 😎 Shade / Mosquito Net Extender AS PICTURED (Fits over the back of the open back hatch and gives you full ventilation, mosquito net coverage, and an extra 6' of awning.)
- 🚴🏼♀️ Magnum Pathfinder E-bike & Nutcase Helmet
- 🏄🏽♂️ SUP (Standup Paddleboard) + roof straps
- 🏄🏾♀️ Beginner Surfboard + roof straps
- 🐠 Snorkel gear
- ❄️ Cooler
- 🏝 Tommy Bahama Beach chairs & Umbrella for 2
- 😴 Extra bedroom for 1 (Deluxe Hammock Sleep System)
- ⛺️ Extra bedroom for 2-4 (North Face Tent Setup + Mattress + Linens)
- 😴 Extra bedroom for 1 (Backseat Air Mattress + Linens)
- 🍳 Kitchen Kit for 2
- 🪑 Collapsible Camping chairs for 2
- 🚿 Solar shower
I'm an avid camper myself (and a bit of a diva - I like to be comfortable!)... so I've road tested ALL of the sleep setups and promise they're functional + cushy.LMK if you have other requests and I'll see if I can source them for you!AIRPORT pickup or delivery to your location can be arranged for an extra fee, or you can take the bus to the Kilauea Neighborhood Center. (Monday-Saturday ONLY!) It's 1 change, $4 total cash exact change only, about 80-100 minutes if they're running on time and you make the connection. ONLY carryon/small luggage is allowed.
UBER/Lyft does exist on Kaua'i but is unreliable from the airport and expensive all the way to the North Shore.
***MOST guests find it's way easier and more affordable to pay for airport delivery from me.***PICKUP/DROPOFF times are set by the Outdoorsy platform automatically as 3PM pickup, and 11AM dropoff. If you'd like to pick up earlier, or drop off later, please LMK by private message. If it's available, and 1-2 hours difference I won't charge extra. If you want more time than that, I'll prorate the daily rental amount (because I'll have to block it off from being rented by someone else). Sorry, no discounts for late pickup or early dropoff.RecommendationsHike! Surf! Beach! Enjoy Kaua'i and Live Aloha! :)NOTE:
This vehicle has an especially *low clearance* so it's not suitable for dirt roads. (Kokee main road is fine, Polihale a definite no) Stick to state campgrounds and surf spots you can access by foot from parking!CRUCIAL:
- You MUST have a plan for car camping in advance.
- Either a friend's land to camp on, or make a car camping reservation at someplace that sleeping in cars, like Kumu Camp in Anahola or YWCA Camp Naue in Haena. County park rules technically do not allow people to sleep in cars (but many local houseless people do).
- It's NOT COOL as well as DANGEROUS to CAMP OR PARK ILLEGALLY! (I put it in bold because so many Outdoorsy renters ignore this, unfortunately.)Other things to noteIMPORTANT:
Despite what you might have been told (or remember from 25 years ago) Kaua'i is NOT a place where you can just sleep on the beach or park wherever you want. That's dangerous, and illegal! Don't worry... I'll share my list of "official" and "alternative" camping/parking options that are both legal + safe so you can have a great time. Please do not rent from me if you plan to break the law or disrespect the KAPU (Hawaiian taboo).GIVING BACK:
A portion of the profits from my business go back into the community for sustainability projects like plastic recycling, local food security, helping the houseless, and women transitioning from abusive partners. If you've got leftover unopened food or good quality clean gear, clothing, or personal items you'd be leaving behind please LMK and I'll pay them forward to someone in need. I'm also happy to provide a list of locally-run non-profits if you'd like to donate what you've saved $$$ by renting from me!No smoking or vaping (of any kind) inside the vehicle. Mahalo.

Using the Prius for my first week here in Kauai was the absolute best choice I could've made. Anandra was so helpful with answering my questions before I felt ready to book.

Anandra was super helpful and the vehicle was perfect! there was a mix up about camping gear but she was really understanding and apologetic about it. Would definitely rent again! Thank you!
Anandra’s answer
Mahalo Hannah! I’ll figure out how to refund you partially for the mixup when I get on the computer. (I am off the grid at the mango farm - glad you could stop by!) Welcome again anytime :)

Outdoorsy’s platform was probably the hardest part of the trip. Anandra was easy. We came to visit our Kānaka Maoli ʻohana, so we weren’t doing touristy things. The car was awesome on gas. Anandra was helpful on getting through some of the confusing parts of Outdoorsy’s steps, she was always available, she had aloha. My daughter and I appreciated it. You won’t regret renting from Anandra. Please take care of the land, learn and respect our culture, have fun, and keep Anandra’s car clean! Aloha.
Anandra’s answer
Mahalo dear Wendy! It was great to talk with you and your daughter and I’m SO happy you had a life-changing visit with ‘ohana. I am passing along the gear you left to a kind houseless brother from Kaimuki who is trying to get by. Some friends from the canoe club look after him.
