We had an extremely disappointing experience with this rental and got absolutely no resolution or accountability from the owner. It started with a bunch of add on fees including a “prep fee” that stated it was in order to provide, among other things, clean linens. It was also to ensure that the RV was cleaned before our use. I don’t understand how we have to pay a pre cleaning fee when we are also responsible for paying a cleaning fee after our use of the RV, and I especially
don’t understand why we have to pay extra to have clean linens. We also had to pay a road side assistance fee, even though we paid extra for the owner to deliver the RV and it was not moving for the duration of our trip and they were picking it up at the end of our trip. We were getting in late the first night of our rental, so we arranged for the owners of the RV to connect with our friend whose house the RV was being delivered to for the drop off and set up. When the RV got there, there was little or no water in the tank, and the owner asked our friend to use his hose to fill the tank. Then, it was not leveled properly, so it was tilted for the duration of our rental. We arrived around 12:30am, and when we went inside, it became clear that the RV was not cleaned. When I used the bathroom shortly after our arrival, I noticed there was hair and filth in the sink and on the toilet as if it had not been cleaned after much use (pictures attached). Then when we got into bed, we pulled the covers back and noticed hair and some type of mess (I don’t even want to know what this mess was) on the sheets (pics attached). Since it was late, we took pictures so we could address it with the owners the next day, and we pulled the sheets off the bed so we could sleep. I messaged the owner in the morning and instead of the owner taking any accountability or giving any kind of apology, I was told that she personally cleaned the RV and changed the sheets herself, so she didn’t believe what I was telling her. I sent her pictures of the sink, the toilet and the sheets, and still did not receive any kind of real apology or acknowledgment of the situation. She just kept repeating that she wiped things down herself, and said that the RV had been sitting for a few weeks so it was probably just dust. She even said that she changed the sheets herself so she didn’t know what the mess was on the sheets or where it came from. She did not offer to bring clean sheets, she did not offer to provide a refund or any other type of solution. When I asked if we could at least get the prep fee refunded, she said that since we were not there to inspect the RV upon drop off, there was nothing she could do and was essentially saying it was our fault for not being there to inspect the RV. We ended up washing the sheets ourselves in our friends washer just so we could sleep on clean linens. The owner not only refused to acknowledge that the RV was disgusting, but blamed us for the situation and did nothing to resolve anything for us. I have never had an experience where I am expected to inspect toilets and sinks for cleanliness, or pull covers back to ensure sheets are clean on a bed I am paying good money to sleep in, especially when I was forced to pay a prep fee. Be very wary of this owner. Terrible experience all around.
