Welcome to your retro escape with our 1976 yellow and gold glamper van "Butterball," a little bundle of joy on wheels! This iconic beauty is more than just a camper van--it's a portal to wholesome nostalgia and relaxed leisure, just toodling around and bonding like the good ole' days. You cannot help but feel young & happy in this van...we call her our 'Meaning Maker!'
Picture of yourself cruising along scenic routes with oldies on the radio, the wind in your hair and on your feet, a soft smile on your face while the sun casts a warm glow through the big retro windows. Inside, the beautifully renovated interior invites you to unwind, while thoughtful amenities ensure your comfort on the road. Whether you're seeking a weekend getaway or a longer adventure, Butterball promises a joyful and utterly charming experience. Embrace un-plugging from it all, and leaving the stressors of modern life behind, as you make new memories the old-fashioned way - no overstimulation, no distractions, just good old-fashioned connection. xx
PS: your host is a Recreation Therapist (hence "leisure bus";), so BB has got some goodies inside, for fun times and connection. :)What's included• Sleeps 2 adults +1 child/small adult. One comfy double bed + a single bunk bed on top with inflatable camping mattress. Comes with flannel cotton bedsheets, a down blanket, and lush pillows, w/ extra wool blankets for cooler nights. A full-length mirror, hooks, and closet space. Black-out curtains ensure privacy, and discreet suburban camping.• Kitchen: 3 burner propane stove, kitchen sink, and icebox. All basic cookware and dishes, a french press, tea kettle, potable water, and a shopping bag. Some spices (s&p), & sauces. Tea towels, garbage bags, & cleaning supplies.• Bathroom: Portable toilet, toilet paper, hand soap, hand sanitizer, & hand towels.RecommendationsHappy to recommend some great local spots based on your preferences! Other things to noteDrive her tenderly (she's a vintage gal), knowing that going slowly and intentionally is part of the leisure charm. She takes her time on the road, takes wider turns, and cannot go under hight bars under 9 ft. Please be especially careful over road-bumps. (no logging roads, etc.)Please no smoking inside the van, cigarettes or otherwise.Pet friendly, depending - I would consider a pet, however, must be very well-behaved. (No chewing/urinating on the furniture, etc, as everything in this van is original and irreplaceable.)As BB is a vintage model, there isn't much to hook up to. The lights inside run off of a separate battery in the cabin, the portable toilet is stand-alone and not hooked up, nor is the water, and the fridge is an icebox. The three-burner stove and the furnace run on propane. If you would like to plug some things in, you could use an extension cord and run it to the van. I have that listed as an add-on, if you'd like to include it.BB's vintage is her charm, and that comes with some old-school technology, so I am happy to give you a thorough run-through to show you where everything is, before you head off on your grand adventure!

Meet your host, Jeanette

Hello Hello! I am Jeanette, a warm and fun-loving Recreation Therapist who loves to create magical and meaningful experiences for myself and others. I believe that taking a break from modern distractions and returning to simplicity is a great way to reconnect with ourselves and each other. It helps us discover our capacity to 'play' as adults and bond with the people we love. That's why I got my van, 'Butterball' the leisure bus, to inspire adventure and connection the old-school way. As soon as I sit inside Butterball, I am filled with a warm, nostalgic, youthful joyfulness—it feels like sunshine in my heart! I want to share this feeling with others, as happiness is best when shared. So, I hope you feel the same way!
xx, J

We had a wonderful time cruising around in Butterball and taking her up the Sunshine Coast! She was nicely decorated and had all the amenities we could have needed! Jeanette was a great host, very responsive, thoughtful and helpful! We highly recommend renting Butterball and enjoying a bit of nostalgia in this cute 1970s van :)

Q.Are there any special tricks and tips that would help with operating the RV easily?
A.
The van has a carburated engine, so there are some tricks! Starting the van: First, pump the gas pedal 5-6 times before turning the ignition, then turn ignition on and give a little gas to warm her up. Let her run for 5+ minutes until the gauge shows the engine is warm enough to run. (I'll show you the gauge;). Ps: Always make sure the propane tank is closed before driving, skylights/side windows are closed, and that everything is secured. :)

Q.What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?
A.
There is 90 minute flexibility for pickup earlier or later than 11 am. Arrangements outside of this will be charged 30.00 per trip, and can be found under ad-ons. Late drop off is 25.00 per hour, charged post-trip from the security deposit.
